Redrafting the Seattle Kraken

Jordan Eberle (USA Today)             A year ago, the majority of the hockey world was dissecting the Seattle Kraken. Expectations were rampant for Ron Francis' squad, as they were hoping to live up to their wildly successful predecessors, the Vegas Golden Knights.     However, following the draft, there seemed to be a different feeling with the Kraken. Their draft was a bit underwhelming. With options such as Carey Price, Vladimir Tarasenko and Matt Duchene on the board, Francis played it safe and went for what seemed like a risk-averse team with potential to exceed expectations.      Over a year after the Kraken officially became the 32nd NHL franchise, I thought it would be an interesting subject to review what Seattle did. Frankly, we're in the part of the year in which NHL content is getting low, but I thought this would be a creative article.      I will be looking at the 30 teams that got raided by Seattle...

F1 Power Rankings: French GP

Carlos Sainz (F1i.com)     Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won his 7th race of the season at the Circuit Paul Ricard, after Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc crashed out from the lead. After being blessed with a brilliant and tightly contested World Championship last season, Verstappen seems to be running away with this year’s title, in large part due to continues errors from Leclerc and Ferrari.     However, even if the F1 championships look done and dusted, the Sincere Sports power rankings have never been tighter. This race marked the first lead change in the overall leaderboard of the entire year. After starting off strong, Leclerc has really tailed off with his performances and that has allowed the more consistent Verstappen to seize first place. Keep reading to find more changes to the standings.      As usual, I added all the drivers' scores together to find the top 10 drivers for this particular race and on a season-long basis.     If you've f...

F1 Power Rankings: Austrian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc (F1i.com)    The F1 Power Rankings are back! After returning from a week-long trip to camp, my first goal was to catch up on all things in the sports world. Evidently, that included watching the F1 races that I missed.    Unfortunately, it’s probably too late now to make a whole article on the British GP, considering it happened over two weeks ago, but you should be aware that I did watch the race and all the scores are a part of the season-long leaderboard.     For anybody curious enough to care, here were the top 10 drivers for Britain.  1. Carlos Sainz, Ferrari (9.1) 2. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes (8.9) 3. Charles Leclerc, Ferrari (8.8) 4. Max Verstappen, Red Bull (8.7) 5. Mick Schumacher, Haas (8.4) T6. Sergio Perez, Red Bull (8.2) T6. Fernando Alonso, Alpine (8.2) 8. Esteban Ocon, Alpine (7.6) T9. Lando Norris, McLaren (7.5) T9. Nicholas Latifi, Wiliams (7.5)    Regardless, the most recent Grand Prix ...

Reviewing Toronto’s Trade for Matt Murray

Matt  Murray (Marc De Rosiers, USA Today)    The Toronto Maple Leafs have made some perplexing decisions over their distinguished history. We may have another to add to the list.     Desperate for a goalie to keep them in playoff contention for the 2022-23 season, the Leafs figured that their tandem from last year was too expensive and too risky. In Kyle Dubas’ defence, that’s probably a fair statement. Neither Jack Campbell nor Petr Mrazek have shown enough in their NHL careers to prove that they could backstop a Stanley Cup-contending team while also collectively costing close to $9 million against the cap. So, there was a certain inevitability when Dubas dealt Mrazek and a first-round pick to the Chicago Blackhawks for a second-round pick.     Suddenly, the possibilities were endless. The Leafs had a world of options at their disposal. Could they go for Darcy Kuemper, who had just backstopped the Colorado Avalanche to a Cup and been...
